We proudly present the first Container Shipping Industry Blueprint published by the DCSA. It has been dubbed ‘IBP 1.0’ and comprises recommended current state standards for the processes used in container shipping. The DCSA and its founding members: Maersk, CMA-CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MSC and ONE have mapped the processes commonly used in container shipping from Carrier Booking to Container Return to create a common view across the industry. The ambition is that carriers will start using this standard already today and will align to it when delivering further digitalisation and standardisation initiatives in the industry in the future.
The Industry Blueprint is the result of an iterative and collaborative project, bringing key stakeholders and subject matter experts from the five founding members of DCSA together to share their non-commercial processes in container shipping. Common and conflicting processes across carriers could be identified and a baselined standard was built. This was validated, aligned and agreed to by all carriers. The IBP 1.0 is the first outcome of this effort presented to the public.
Download the Industry Blueprint from the DCSA website today to see the recommended container shipping standards for processes, milestones and messages for the Container Journey. It includes high level process maps on three types of journeys: Shipment, Equipment and Vessel; and it also shows how to deal with Exception Handling. Remember to also download the Industry Process Catalogue and Glossary of Terms together with the reading guide – to get high level descriptions and information on how to navigate through the Industry Blueprint.
